A Brief History of J.R. Jones Roofing

In 1980, after an oil crisis, James Ronald "Ron" Jones founded J.R. Jones Roofing, blending his construction expertise with his love for people. His principle was simple: "The best way to give people a better roof is by being a better person." By 1981, the company transitioned to strictly commercial roofing, filling a void in the market by focusing on exceptional customer service, not just transactions.

In 1984, J.R. Jones Roofing became a corporation, and by 1987, it expanded nationally due to the obvious service differentiator which was the people. Ron's values, especially "choosing good," guided every action and ensured success.

In 1994, Earl Thomas joined, emphasizing human capital and operational excellence. In Earl, Ron had found a kindred spirit who believed that we must always “treat people the way we want to be treated.” Their partnership led to significant growth, quadrupling by 1998 and expanding eightfold by 2008. Tommy Thomas then joined, integrating new technologies while vigorously maintaining core values.

Once J.R. Jones found a true leadership team, including Jenny Smith, Matt Ewton, and Jared Stephenson, it facilitated growth like never before! This team continued to uphold the tradition of "aggressive goodness," ensuring the company's unimpeachable reputation and lasting success.

In 2024, J.R. Jones Roofing found another contractor who mirrored their own ideologies and beliefs on how to treat people and provide customer service. That contractor was Eskola Roofing, and early in 2024 they merged to offer our partners more than we ever have in our history. J.R. Jones Roofing and Eskola Roofing are truly stronger together.

WHAT IS SHIELD?

“How do I get the most of out of my roof?” The key to long-term roof performance is consistent preventative maintenance and repairs. Often, major roof problems only come to the building owner’s attention when a leak has already happened, and after considerable damage has been done to the structure, equipment, or inventory. Eskola has developed a comprehensive program designed to maximize the performance of your roof system, ensure warranty compliance, forecast expenditures, and find potential issues before they become costly leaks.
