About This Project

Baptist 86 Tower

Our commercial roofing team in Lexington, Kentucky, has been solving the most longstanding roofing problems for over half a century. The Baptist 86 Tower project is a great example of our team’s expertise and ability to find innovative solutions to complex roofing issues.

Baptist Tower 86, located in Elizabethtown, Tennessee, is one of the tallest buildings in the city. The building is home to Baptist Health, which is the largest healthcare provider in the state of Kentucky, with more than 300 patient beds.

The roof of the Baptist Tower Building covers 13500 square feet and was in dire need of repair due to damage from severe weather. The water had been seeping into the building through the roof for over 20 years, causing extensive damage to the ceilings, walls, and floors. The building owner had tried several different repair methods and commercial roofing contractors, but the leaks continued.

When the Baptist Tower Roofing project was brought to our team in 2021, we knew that this would be a challenging project and were up for the challenge. Our commercial roofing contractors conducted a thorough roofing analysis and found that the leaks were caused by several different factors, including:

  • water ponding on the roof
  • inconsistencies in the concrete roof deck
  • malfunctioning roof drains
  • extensive damage to the roofing system and building interior caused by water penetration.

After our roofing analysis, we determined that the best course of action was to remove the existing roof and install a new garland-modified bitumen roofing system. This roofing system is designed to withstand ponding water and provide a long-lasting waterproof seal.

As we were working on the project, we discovered that the building’s air intakes were located on the roof. This meant that there was a potential for odor from the sealant material to waft into the hospital area and disturb patients. Considering the unique needs of the hospital environment, we took extra precautions to ensure safe and odorless roofing installation. We installed carbon filters on the building’s air intakes to reduce odors as much as possible while the work was being completed.

The Baptist Tower 86 roofing project was completed in 3 months and the building has been leak-free ever since! This was a complex roofing project that required innovative solutions and expert craftsmanship. Our team of Lexington Kentucky commercial roofers is delighted to have worked on this project and helped Baptist Health provide its patients with the best possible care.
