Nothing Could Stop This Roofing Job from Happening Even A Pandemic!

In 2021, our team of Nashville Commercial Roofers took on a roofing project at the Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. While the rest of the country was shutting down, we continued to work hard to help the hospital keep its patients safe.

When our commercial roofing inspectors reached this hospital for an initial inspection, we noticed that the roof showed signs of disrepair and needed to be replaced as soon as possible. We saw water pooling on the roof, noticeable stains and bubbles, and damaged roofing material.

We knew it was imperative to replace the roof as soon as possible to prevent any further damage to the hospital. We got a plan together and set to work quickly.

In just 3 months, our commercial roofing contractors had the old roof removed and replaced with a brand new, safer Trimco 2-ply modified bitumen roofing system. The new roof has already made a huge difference for the hospital. The staff and patients are much safer now that the roof is no longer in danger of leaking or collapsing.

The Four primary challenges we had to take into account were:

1) The safety of our workers and the hospital patients: Working surrounding the Covid-19 fears meant we had to take precautions for both our workers and the hospital patients. We made sure that our workers were following all the CDC guidelines for social distancing and wearing PPE. We worked closely with the hospital staff to make sure that we complied with all safety measures. Our workers also sanitized their hands and equipment regularly.

2) High Hospital Traffic: Since our roofing contractors had to work around the active hospital hours, we had to be careful with the scheduling of the project as we didn’t want to disrupt the hospital’s daily operations.

3) Unloading Trash: On the logistical side, we had to coordinate with the hospital’s trash crane to offload the old roof. This was a challenge because it could only be used at night. Our team had to get creative with the scheduling and staging to ensure the project was completed on time and without any accidents.

4) Roof Altitude: The hospital roof was high off the ground, which made it a little more difficult to work on. We strictly followed OSHA guidelines and used the proper equipment to make sure our workers were safe.

Despite all the challenges, we completed the project on time and on budget! The new roof covers 30,000 sq ft, and we are extremely happy to be showcasing our project video.
